The unit uses the simplex part of the Globalstar network, so it will never be able to tell you if your message has been successfully sent, simply because it doesn't know. There's no satellite receiver in there, it can only send data, not receive. So it simply relies on multiple retries and "hopes" the signal has reached the satellite. This is a _major_ flaw in my opinion, especially since they advertise it as a life saver.
